is there anyway of saving an image from your monitor using c++. And if you can save it is there a way to manipulate that image(like a library). If anyone can point me to a tutorial or something that would be great. Thanks

Go to http://tutorials.cpp-home.com and check the multimedia category... for more precision, go to sub-categories, and see the images and graphics categories...
