GPA

Postby Kramer55 » Mon Sep 06, 2004 7:32 pm

im takin a few AP classes this year (AP Bio and AP US history)
an Honor's English

the AP class hase a grade weight of 1.0, so its a 5.0
and honors has a 0.5 weight

i know for report cards, a 'B' is really an A

so would it be right for me to add 10% onto each of my tests if they were on the 100% scale?
for instance if i got an 85 on an AP Bio test, could i really say i earned a 95?

same question for Honors, but could i add a 5% each time too?

if not, how does that work?
thanks

GPA calculations vary per school. I have a pen pal whose school has a maximum GPA of 6.0. For my high school, a semester grade of B in an Honors/AP class had the same weight as a semester grade of A in a regular class.

Dont think about the individual tests since it's really only the semester grade that matters.
Need information on a function I've posted? Chances are it's at the MSDN.

It's the college that decides how to handle your GPA. So don't count on anything...

Kybo's right. I don't think my college gave me any special treatment because I was in all honors and AP courses; they only cared if I had passed the tests or not. If my grades were weighted heavier than they normal were, I was unaware of it.

I agree with everything that's been said, but an increase from 4.0 to 5.0 is actually an increase of 25% not 10%. So no, you wouldn't just add 10% for an AP A.
