Thanks so much for having a UNIX portion of this forum UNIX deserves it's own portion of any forum... Sometimes it is hard to believe how hard people can become over OS specific stuff I can honestly imagine people having brawls over UNIX/or Linux vs Windows related stuff. you know like at a LAN party someone has a discussion about how Windows is better so then someone says heh.. you can't get borland on linux man.. Windows 0wnz j00.. so then other people start saying stuff about linux and all of a sudden a riot occurs...

ok... not likely really ... but fun nonetheless...

And those who know the least are the loudest on both sides.

Like Java vs. C++
Like Python vs. Perl
Like vi vs. emacs
Like HL vs. UT
Like kindergarden children... ;-)

It is really incredibly difficult for me to refrain from mentioning which of those things you listed are in my opinion better, however in the interest of not appearing to be a kindergartner I shall...

They are both devil spawn that make me use a cheat sheet to save. PICO 4EVA!!

Like HL vs. UT

I know HL stands for Hannibal Lecter, but who is UT?

Kindergardeners tend to share more. I'd say closer to third grade.

And I'm moving this to Open Discussion, no point boggling down a useful forum with nonesense :wink:

Kinderkarten Rulez f :lol: rev4h!!11 :

My gallup response:

- C++
- Python
- vi
- UT, never played though. There just can't be anything more terrible than counter-strike mod of HL.

Just though I'd say, I play UT a lot. A great game :)
If it wasn't for C, we would be using BASI, PASAL and OBOL.

Perl+Python beats PHP in all cases except on web pages where the script has to e.g. access databases or get input from the user. On the other hand there're some disadvantages in writing www-interfaces in PHP too because quite often the logic and interface of a script are written in the same place unless some extensions like XSLT are used along PHP. There aren't any strict rules of structuring the code in PHP like there are in some "real" scripting languages. For example, a pure HTML page is also valid PHP if .php file extension is added in the end of the file name.

God, I was just on another forum, and all it consists of OS flaming and what operating system is better Linux of Windows... They don't understand that Unix is better than Linux, Linux is good for some things, and Windows is better for other things, like games, and general multimedia. UT2003 rules Half Life, C++ rules Java, and kinder gardeners are not so bad, I guess... :D

Of course UT2003 rules HL, there's what, a 5 year difference in technology. At least in terms of multiplayer with the CS mod in HL.
I don't like any argument involving Java and C++. They're two different technologies useful in two different classes of problems. It can be argued that those classes overlap on some problems, and that one system may be better then another, but in the end it's all moot anyway.
Now what I want to know, is why so many people spell it kindergarden?

Brain shortcuts, like e.g. my native language is German so I have to spell Kindergarten different when used as English word (Because there are so many similar words [common heritage] in both languages) ;-)
