Hey guys, long time no see. I've popped back here a couple times but haven't really participated. Life is so busy.

I've really spread out from C++ in recent years. I've done a lot of work in javascript/jquery, python, scaling web applications, kind of found an interesting niche in single threaded http servers which are lots of fun. And most recently I've been been focused on ruby and rails.

I wanted to drop in and show you guys a cool little side project I just whipped together this week:

Inspired by youtube comments, which are infamously retarded. I wanted to be able to take discussion thread comments out of context and glorify them in beautiful quotes. The underlying engine is a simple delegation pattern conditioned by URL regex and associated import adapters. Under Share you put in a youtube video URL and the discussion is imported then you can select the "retardation" comment, and relevant context. The failover is then a manual copy/paste builder for any not yet supported sites.

User submitted retardations are rated by number of helmets, as opposed to likes or thumbs up/down. The retardations receiving the most helmets make their way into the top 100.

Right now it just imports youtube, I'm working on slashdot next which I think has the second most mentally challenged user base. I'm also planning on implementing tagging so you can filter by say "racism" or "hitler".
